I created the “Flex” program for the Del Mar/Carmel Valley Sharks in 2017 to offer local female multisport athletes the opportunity to play competitive soccer while having the flexibility and support to pursue other sports. Players from the first G05 Flex team (formed when the athletes were then in 6th/7th grade) have now gone on to letter for their varsity soccer, softball, track, field hockey, tennis, cross country, and volleyball teams. Building off the “Flex” Model, 14U High Tide Huffstutter is a San Diego-based travel softball team that provides an opportunity for girls who play soccer, volleyball, beach volleyball, and field hockey to play a highly competitive softball schedule.
